Esse Vanderbruggen

After graduating at P.A.R.T.S. in 2012, Esse Vanderbruggen (BE) started working as a freelance performer, outside eye and movement advisor for several dance, theater and circus companies in Belgium and abroad such as Vera Tussing, Kubilai Khan Investigations, not standing/Alexander Vantournhout, Petite Foule Production, Collectif Malunés, Isabella Soupart and Compagnie Monica. Since 2012 she's been closely collaborating with Vera Tussing, joining her research on tactility, collectivity & consent in dance and performance. As a performer, rehearsal director and outside eye Esse currently collaborates with not standing (Contre-Jour, SCREWS, Foreshadow), Petite Foule Production (Le Tir Sacré, Bataille Générale), Colletif Malunés (Bit by Bit) and Lee/Vakulya (BURNT).

Esse Vanderbruggen, Chia-Hung Chung, Emmi Väisänen and Axel Guérin are, together with Alexander Vantournhout, the core of Not Standing’s artistic team. They have been with the company for several years and created and performed several shows together. They have a deep understanding of Not Standing's movement language and take on different artistic roles— as performers, teachers, rehearsal directors, artistic assistants or even fleet managers. These performers not only embody but also expand and enrich the movement language, contributing to the growth of the artistic Not Standing-universe.
